I agree with other reviewers. They want the sale. That's it. This company was recommended to me by my pool maintenance guy. Now both myself and him would never recommend them again. Work quality was okay. Took forever. No prep for demo and destroyed my backyard. Had massive amounts of debris where my pool cover rolls up clogging the drain and causing other issues.

Both myself and pool maintenance company have reached out to them for support because since the refinish the pool pH is out of control high. I even installed a $2k monitoring system that is dumping acid in the pool to try to get under control. Alan smith should be here to help diagnose and fix. NOTHING! I have reached out them multiple times to include my pool guy-nothing.

They want the sale. Want to get paid and do nothing more. Was happy to prevent our neighbors from using them. My pool guy has many clients-will never recommend this company. Wish I had used someone else.

Critical: Punctuality, Responsiveness The job was supposed to start in Jan and now it is June and they are still not done. They are very slow in responding when jobs will resume. I will update when work is done in the quality but so far their response time is unacceptable. Services: Tile work replacement, Swimming pool resurfacing

These guys really just want to sale jobs. Last response to a review the company said that they do over 700 pools a year! That's a lot of pools! They do not communicate. When they do they lie or they just don't communicate with each other so no one knows what's actually going on. Our job started in January and after one disappointment after another they finally asked us if we wanted to cancel our contract. They didn't want to make their mess right. Customer service down the drain. They blame it on the labor shortage but yet they keep selling jobs!?

They were professional, they called to schedule the appointment, when they sent me the quote and approximately when the parts will be installed. They have great customer service. They are my new to call for help. You won't be disappointed, give them a call and see for yourself. Service: Swimming pool automation and controls repair

We hired Alan Smith Pools to redo our pool and pool deck in 2018. We used pavers for the deck material. 3 years later (within the 5year warranty period) we noticed OUR COPING DISINTEGRATING. This is occurring in random areas around the deck and not in any pattern or high traffic/splash areas (such as steps). It's obviously poor quality materials. In addition our pavers are showing signs of degradation.

We contacted Alan Smith Pools in August 2021. They sent someone out who agreed it was a problem. We then never heard anything else again. We contacted many times. Finally months later they said they would replace the most degraded coping pieces. Not acceptable to me. I want all of them replaced. 80% of them show some signs of degradation. Their COO Scott Raze came out and tried to blame our pool chemistry.

We have a respected and professional pool man and he kept records which Caused Scott to have to find another cause. So next it was the domestic water. They tested that and it was fine. Then it was a drainage issue from 5 foot grassy knoll next to the pool deck that existed prior to the remodel.ludicrous. Finally, they said they'd meet with us with their material suppliers.

That meeting hasn't happened nor will they respond to us about it. Bottom line they are trying to do anything and find any excuse to not fix this issue. Now they won't return calls or emails. They are the worst pool company you can pick. Attached are some photos. If you want to spend your money on masonry products that need to be replaced every 3 years then use Alan Smith Pools. If you want unprofessional people that won't honor their warranties or stand behind their products snd installation, then use Alan Smith Pools.

UPDATE: After they saw this review I finally got a response and my long awaited proposal. They apologized identifying the lack of a proposal was a mistake. I am reviewing the proposal now. One more star for finally responding. I was promised a proposal quote after spending time with the designer to discuss what I wanted showing him around my yard and discussing pricing.

For whatever reason, the person who came decided I wasn't worth providing a proposal? I never heard from him and instead I have been getting INUNDATED with spam emails (so many I had to unsubscribe) and now requests to review this company. The first request for a review I sent rated one star and explained that I never got a quote. I expected an email acknowledging the oversight but instead I get another invitation to review them for Google.

If only your employees cared as much about me as your marketing team. I can only guess that my money isn't as good as people lucky enough to actually get work done by you? Am I too brown? Who knows cos I never heard anything from them. If a company can't manage to supply you with a written proposal then I can only imagine how bad they are at installing/remodeling pools.

Completely Satisfied! I am very impressed by the professionalism and quality of this company. All of the employees were courteous and respectful. After receiving a number of different estimates, it didn't take long for me to realize that I chose the right company. Everyone was eager to answer my questions, address my concerns and when necessary they would even follow up.

They were happy to accommodate our changes and they regularly sent emails to advise us of their schedule and their progress. They are a customer driven company with prideful employees that delivers an overall great experience. Super happy with the end results!

I would recommend Alan Smith Pools to anyone and here are a lot of reasons why. First of all we asked around and a lot of our friends, who also live in Mission Viejo, recommended them and we found out that they have been in Business since the eighties. We needed a pool renovation because the contractor that built our pool five years ago did not seal it properly.

So we bit the bullet and finally decided to call Alan Smith and we were impressed from the very start with Mike Sickels who came out to give us a price. We had to remove all the plaster, all the tile and all the coping. Basically we needed a new pool. Mike Sickels walked us through the whole process and we met him later at their headquarters in Orange.

The showroom was extensive and their people were all top notch. We liked the idea that they hydro blasted our plaster off the pool instead of chipping it off. They apparently specialize in this procedure. They had a virtual tent covering our pool when they hydro blasted it which kept most of the dust down. They even put a visqueen draped wall between the pool and the house to protect everything from dust.

I have never seen a company that thought each process through to protect our property and also I loved the fact they cleaned up like "they were never there" everyday. We were so impressed with the fastidious and expert laying of our tile by Salvador and Fermin. They were here every morning at 7 am and worked so hard to do a perfect job. I have never seen such hard workers.

They should get a medal. Of course all this would not have happened but for our Superintendent, CJ. He oversaw a lot and and dealt with the permits, the inspectors and just about everything. We were adamant about just getting our pool plastered but CJ suggested we should go with their small-sandstone pebble look which would hold up better and not discolor. We are so happy we did. It looks fabulous. Thanks, again, to Alan Smith Pools for doing a great job. Diane B. Mission Viejo

We chose Alan Smith Pools because several of our neighbors highly recommended them and I can see why. Our pool replastering and retiling process was entirely painless because of the excellent team led by our project superintendent Ken Rooker. At the beginning of the project, I appreciated the opportunity to set up an appointment at the extensive tile showroom and to obtain assistance by staff in choosing the tile.

Each day, we were advised via email of the type of work being performed. The team was always on time and cleaned up at the end of the day. Ken managed the process of obtaining the city inspections and permit in a smooth and timely manner. We had a relatively tight deadline because of arriving houseguests, and the pool was replastered and ready to go on time. Additionally, we had one small issue after the pool was completed, and Ken immediately responded to my email and scheduled a minor repair within a couple of days. I would not hesitate to recommend Alan Smith Pools.

Alan Smith Plastering and Remodeling - Pool Remodel in Mission Viejo We put a new pool in less than 5 years ago. The pool of our dreams. Within 3 years, the pool developed a crack half way around the pool about 1 inch below the water line. Upon the recommendations of several friends here in Orange County and Palm Springs. We called Alan Smith Plastering and Remodeling to review our issues and recommend a solution. Mike Sickels came out with his team and went through all our concerns and offered the solutions.

As painful as it was to hear, they recommended the removing of all tile, plaster and coping, ouch. We felt confident that the Alan Smith team could solve our leakage problem. Fearful of the mess and dust, we were happy to hear that they just don't jackhammer away at the plaster and tile. Alan Smith has a process called Hydro Blasting, done with water.

The team showed up and protected EVERYTHING, the grass, the patio, furniture and a ten foot radius around the pool. They completely tented the pool area and started blasting away. Each day when they were finished with their work, they tidied up, and then covered up all their equipment, ready for the next day's work. The neatest guys I have ever seen.

For each stage of the remodel, there is a separate team that works. They notify you prior to their arrival, they show up on time, and then the team leader would call after that stage of work to make sure you are happy and to answer any concerns. Our Alan Smith team was led by C.J. Aragon, who was here each working day to make sure we knew what was happening, and what was going to happen.

He made recommendations, and explained the process, and held our hand through it all. I would recommend the Alan Smith experience to anyone who wants a fabulous looking water experience in their backyard. Thanks to all the great Alan Smith people who came to help us. You Rock! Nonny B. Mission Viejo
